I really enjoyed this project and I was pleased with the final outcome! I do wish I would've made the smaller words at the bottom a bigger font, but other than that this project was fun!

GIG POSTER~

Here's one of the gig posters I finished, I'll post the rest once they're completed but I figured I'd put this here!!!

PEN TOOL PRACTICE~

This project took me a very long time to finish because I'm stupid and chose a difficult photograph that I took on the Highline in New York to "practice" the pen tool with. Anyway, I know there are a few mistakes but after this project I should know the pen tool pretty well. The top photo is the vector based image that I traced and the bottom is the original photograph.

TRUTH IN ADVERTISING~

                         Reflection:

     This project was pretty fun and informative! Advertisements can appear harmless but they really are capitalistic and manipulative forms of propaganda. Makeup ads in particular teach people certain standards of beauty and what products to use in order to be beautiful, and with the help of a popular celebrity, the advertisers got exactly what they wanted, I mean, even I own this product, it must've worked on a few other mindless consumers.

     Images are the greatest form of persuasion, because humans focus on everything visual for the most part. Looks are important. So, it's easy to sway a human to make themselves believe what they need to buy in order to get that certain look, or follow a specific trend. 

     In a way, I kind of want advertisements to be regulated by the government, but then that just gives the government another form of control and take away creativity from hard advertising workers. I don't know exactly how I stand, but I'd rather have some corporation tell me how to look beautiful rather than the government.

SELF PORTRAIT~

     This is my self portrait project, I don't really have too much that I identify with, or anything I feel like sharing, so I chose a lot of things that I like! I love Grimes, so I found a transparent image of her visions cd with her original artwork on it. The spacey background and the "FROOT" logo shows how much I love Marina and The Diamonds, and space, duh. Also the astronaut is a logo from Brand New's album Deja Entendu, and since I just spent copious amounts of money on tickets to see them today, I figured that I'd add them into my project. In the corner there's a small cartoon tooth that represents my love for Joyce Manor, and a Sailor Jerry traditional mom heart, because I love my mom. I put a lot of clip art confetti in the background for looks I guess, and I also have a lady with awesome pit hair to show my hatred of gender stereotypes and to represent the fact that I'm an intersectional feminist. Lastly, I put a clip art crown above the "FROOT" logo because Stephanie means "crown" in Greek, and I am obviously some sort of royalty.
